Our Doctors

Karen Werner, DVM
Dr. Karen Werner, one of the owners of Meyerland Animal Clinic, graduated in 1980 from the University of Illinois. She moved to Texas immediately after graduation and has always worked at Meyerland Animal Clinic. She has owned several ex-racing greyhounds, and worked with volunteer groups in bringing her dogs to local rehabilitation hospitals for patient visits. She currently owns a greyhound named Gloria, a rescue Pug named Snorty McPug Face, and 5 rescued cats, Jelly, Princess Mayonnaise, Davy Crockett, Schnebly and Woofy. Her special interests include GI diseases, cardiac problems, dermatology and behavioral training.

Thomas F. Vining, DVM
Dr. Thomas F. Vining Dr. Thomas F. Vining Jr., one of the owners of Meyerland Animal Clinic, graduated from Texas A&M University in 1976, and has worked at our clinic ever since. He especially likes working and sporting dogs, and has had much experience in dogs shows and obedience trials. He has interest in preventive medicine through nutrition, vaccination, dental care and parasite control. Other interests including cycling and gemology. Dr. Vining Jr. has 4 Labrador Retrievers named Jake, Scooter, Dagney and Penny.


Lori Teller , DVM
Dr. Lori Teller

Dr. Teller is a 1990 graduate of Texas A&M University. She enjoys internal medicine, especially gastroenterology, and cytology. She is a board-certified diplomat of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine and feline medicine). On January 27, 1999 she joined the Board of Directors of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and currently serves as the President of TVMA. Dr. Teller is a past president of the Harris County Veterinary Medical Association. In 1995 she was awarded the Recent Graduate Veterinarian of the Year Award by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. She also has 3 dogs, Boomer, Derby, and Monty, and 2 cats, Maggie and Sam. When not spending time with her family or at work, she enjoys reading, exercising, traveling, competing in flyball with her Labs, and she serves on the Board of Trustees for The Gateway Academy, a high school for students with special needs.

 


Zeph Moss , DVM
Dr. Zeph Moss

Dr. Moss is a 1998 graduate of Texas A&M University and has worked at our clinic since graduation. He has a special interest in oncology, neurology, and critical care. He is the very proud father of a daughter and a new son. The Moss family has one cat named Jilian, and is currently helping rehabilitate a stray dog named Vienna. Dr. Moss enjoys playing Frisbee Golf.


Allison Hargraves, DVM

Dr. Allison Hargraves was named the 2007 New Graduate of the Year by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. Before joining our staff in 2005, she completed a rigorous year of internship at Cornell University in New York. She graduated in 2004 as the top student in her class at Texas A&M University and enjoys dermatology, internal medicine and exotic animal medicine. Dr. Hargraves has 3 cats, Tabitha, Lily and James, and 2 dogs, Sydney and Buster.

Dr. Hargraves is currently on maternity leave!


April Guest, DVM


Dr. April Guest graduated from Texas A&M in 2007. A client favorite already, she has special interest in dentistry, pain management, and geriatric medicine. Dr. Guest has a Golden Retriever named “Jake” and a terrier mix named “Chip”.


Heather Puksta , DVM

Meyerland's newest addition! Dr. Heather Puksta graduated from Ross University Veterinary School in 2005, having performed her clinical rotations at LSU. She is a member of AVMA, HCVMA and the National Disaster Animal Response Team via the U.S. Humane Society. Dr. Puksta enjoys soft tissue surgery, large dog medicine, exotic animal medicine, as well as sea turtle rehabilitation and ecology. Dr. Puksta is married, has a step daughter and two dogs. Mason a lab and Cannon a boxer.
